How to convert decimal hours to minutes
Multiply the decimal by 60, because an hour has 60 minutes. 0.88 hours × 60 = 52.8 minutes. When the answer is not a whole number, the part after the point is a fraction of a minute: 0.8 of a minute is 0.8 × 60 = 48 seconds, so 0.88 hours is 52 minutes 48 seconds.

Reading a decimal that came from a time clock

Hundredths of an hour do not line up with whole minutes, so a time clock that records hundredths has already rounded. A 53-minute punch is stored as 0.88 (53 ÷ 60 = 0.8833), and converting 0.88 back gives 52.8 minutes rather than 53. If your decimal came from a timesheet or payroll export, round the result to the nearest whole minute to recover the original punch.
